As many businesses still wrestle with how to fully embrace the digital age, Adam Fichman has spent his entire career working on the internet. Just take a look at his company’s website and you’ll see the slogan ‘We are the nerds in love with the internet’ across the front page.’
Fichman is the owner and president of Lifted Logic, a website design and development company based in Kansas City, and the focus of this week’s podcast. We wanted to talk to him about his world inside the internet but we got a lot more out of the conversation and believe you will as well.
To give you some background on Fichman, he began coding at age six before starting his own business as a freshman in college. This company, named 1Dawg, was created to solve the problem of transferring videos to an iPod and it found an audience quickly. So fast, in fact, that they were about $2 million in debt as 20-year-olds because of how many users they had and how much bandwith they were using to transfer files.
Eventually, Fichman found himself working with Facebook early in the company’s history and he tells us the story about how he assisted in developing the advertising platform that they use today. From there, he started Lifted Logic and has grown it to nearly three times the size he envisioned more than 10 years ago.
We’ll talk all about that career path on the show, but we’ll also go inside his mind to understand his philosophy on life and finding your purpose.
A few of the things we’ll get into from the business side on the show:
- How he found programming early in life.
- Theory of constraints
- How he helped develop Facebook’s advertising platform.
- Building a culture at work that fosters meaningful and authentic relationships.
- Who his mentors were.
- His view on the two types of entrepreneurs.
- Chasing your passion and not the money.

Once we kind of get into the rut of what we do for a living, we tend to be on replicate mode. So, my main job is to push them outside of that, make them uncomfortable, challenge them in a way that a client or someone outside of the industry may not.
